Vienna , 02 July 2012 Fekter on IMF report: Austria is on the right path – reform package is working IMF praises Austria's consolidation path

"I am pleased that the IMF too perceives Austria's economy to be in good shape and considers our reform package to be the right one, " declared Finance Minister Dr Maria Fekter in response to the latest report presented by the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

Within the framework of presentation of provisional results of the so-called Article IV consultations by an IMF team of experts, the IMF adjudges Austria's economy to be sound and not only perceives the reform package to be promising, but also considers the pace of budget consolidation to be reasonable. "We have not only taken the right measures, but also adopted the right speed," affirms Fekter with satisfaction.

The offensive measures taken mean that the best possible preconditions for economic growth and employment have been created, without thereby disregarding the necessary consolidation. "The path we have embarked upon means that we will be able to continue in future cementing our solid position in an international context," concluded Fekter.
