Vienna, 18 January 2012 Neue SeiteThree interested parties for first casino packages

The Federal Ministry of Finance wishes to report that, in response to the public search for interested parties which began in August 2011 for the first casino package, to date three interested parties have submitted their applications and accompanying documentation. The deadline closes on 13 January 2012 (the date of postmark of applications). As set out in the published procedure documents, the applications will now be analyzed by an advisory council according to the statutory rules of the Austrian Gambling Act.

The first casino package comprises six locations which can be allocated to Austrian provincial capitals. The search for interested parties in a second package, comprising a further six locations outside the provincial capitals, was launched in December 2011. The application deadline for this package is 16 May 2012.

The advisory council will meet over the next few days under the leadership of Dr. Wolfgang Nolz (Director General at the Federal Ministry of Finance). Its members, who are under a duty to maintain confidentiality and secrecy, will evaluate applications according to the specified and published criteria and present a recommendation on awarding of the licences.
