E-Government

For many years, the Ministry of Finance has developed innovative e-Government solutions and has already received multiple awards as a result. The aim of the Federal Ministry of Finance is to offer both citizens and businesses the best possible service and to structure an increasing number of official channels electronically so as to render them in a simple, swift and efficient way.

FinanzOnline – The innovative e-Government platform

Over the past few years, FinanzOnline has not only been expanded to become the most successful Austrian e-Government application, but it has also become the international benchmark for efficient public administration. Using FinanzOnline, Austrian citizens can, for instance, file their tax return from home 24 hours a day. Upon request, assessment notices can be delivered electronically in just a few days. Businesses use the benefits of FinanzOnline for services including the transmission of VAT, income tax or corporation tax.

Using synergies, increasing efficiency, strengthening the economy

The e-Government service offered by the Federal Ministry of Finance is continually expanding. Only recently, the Business Service Portal was launched. In future, as a one-stop-shop, this portal is intended to simplify statutory reporting duties for businesses and save administrative costs. Findok (Expert and Legal Information on Financial Matters) offers a comprehensive pool of information on tax law, accessible through the internet. And with the new Pan-European Public Procurement Online (PEPPOL), Austrian companies will in the future be able to participate simply and effectively in international public tenders. These initiatives create competitive advantages, secure jobs and strengthen Austria as an economic location.
The Austrian tax administration also relies on modern e-Government solutions: electronic payments, paperless office (e-Office) and the electronic record system (ELAK) are just three examples of facilities which help to save both time and costs
