Quantity limits for foodstuff

There are limits on the quantities of food for personal consumption in tourist travel as well.

You do not need any documents up to the quantities listed in each case, or you do not need any examination at import.

For the import of larger quantities you need appropriate certifications, and importation is possible only at certain customs offices.

If an animal disease has broken out in your holiday country or plant pests have appeared, import bans can be imposed – even at short notice – in order to prevent introduction.

Please note in this context that for phytosanitary purposes the Canary Islands and the French overseas departments, as well as Ceuta and Melilla, are considered third countries.
