Ministry

The Federal Ministry of Finance is one of the oldest ministries in Austria. Since the revolutionary year 1848 it has had its seat again in the Winter Palace of  Prince Eugene in Himmelpfortgasse, in the city centre of Vienna. Thus the Winter Palace, as the highest finance authority, is the centre of financial and economic policy of our country.

The central authority consists of five Directorates with approximately 820 employees. On the whole, the Ministry of Finance today is a modern service provider adapting its services to the needs and welfare of citizens.
